Here is why........ I believe that the Bucs are locked in Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh, and on the other hand the Lions can save money and still get their franchise left tackle or Gerald McCoy while picking up another draft pick. I expect the deal to be as follows:<br /><br />Tampa Bay Receives:<br />2nd Overall Selection<br /><br />Detroit Receives:<br />3rd Overall Selection<br />153rd Overall Selection (5th round via New England for TE Alex Smith)<br /><br />2nd Round- 35th Overall - FSU CB - Patrick Robinson<br />Robinson is a great cover corner and yes even though the Bucs play some cover 2, they still play quite a bit of man. Robinson would be a great fit next to Aqib Talib for a long time to come.<br /><br />2nd Round- 42nd Overall - Maryland OT - Bruce Campbell<br />The Buccaneers have to get an OT and early this year. Donald Penn and Jeremy Trueblood are both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents next season, and Penn is demanding a trade currently. Behind the two of them there is Undrafted free agents Demar Dotson, and James Lee. Also at Tackle, they have last year's 5th round pick Xavier Fulton. If Aaron Sears ever gets healthy then they will have the opportunity to move Jeremy Zuttah to a tackle spot.<br /><br />3rd Round- 67th Overall - Miss DE - Greg Hardy<br />A former highly rated prospect that has fell off due to poor play as a senior. Buccaneers need a replacement for Jimmy Wilkerson who is a UFA and Stylez G. White is now on the wrong side of 30.<br /><br />4th Round - 101st Overall - Citadel WR - Andre Roberts<br />A small school receiver with big upside, could be this year's version of a Johnny Knox.<br /><br />6th Round - 172nd Overall - Florida State S - Myron Rolle<br />I believe due to a slow 40 time and a year in Oxford that Rolle will fall into the 5th or 6th round. The Bucs are looking for leaders on this young team and Rolle fits that mold.<br /><br />7th Round - 210th Overall - LSU RB - Keiland Williams<br />A big running back with decent speed, will add some depth to the bucs backfield.<br /><br />7th Round - 217th Overall (via Jax for QB Luke McCown) - Newberry WR - Kelton Tindal<br />Ran a 4.32 forty at his small school's pro day. Has been rumored to run a 4.20 at times. Even being a small school player with not much football experience(only 33 catches as a senior), somebody will draft him on speed alone.<br /><br />7th Round - 232nd Overall (via Balt for DE Marques Douglas)- FAU QB - Rusty Smith<br />Legendary coach Howard Schnellenberger said two years ago that this guy would be a first round pick. Well due to a poor senior season and injury concerns, he may now not be drafted at all. However, he is a big quarterback with a high upside and worth a shot this late in the draft.<br /><br />7th Round - 253rd Overall(Compensatory selection)- East Carolina P - Matt Dodge<br />With a selection this late in the draft, teams generally select guys they have rated as priority undrafted free agents just to guarantee their rights. The Buccaneers hold 5 of the first 101 overall selections (3, 35, 42, 68, and 101). The St. Louis Rams decision to cut veteran QB Marc Bulger shortly after meeting with Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford has to lead us to believe that Bradford will become the first overall selection. A smaller move was made under the radar which hints at Detroit’s probable selection second overall. The Lions have traded for left guard Rob Sims from the Seattle Seahawks. That means that left tackle Jeff Backus will probably stay put at left tackle for at least the upcoming season. So barring a trade down, it is unlikely the Lions will address offensive line this early in the draft. The Sims acquisition frees the lions to take a talented DT at the number two spot in the draft, either Oklahoma’s Gerald McCoy or Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh. So it is looking like a near lock that Bradford and one of the two defensive tackles will be gone when the Buccaneers select at the three spot. Therefore, it is anticipated that the Buccaneers will take whichever of the two defensive tackles is still available. Now that was the easy part, the harder part is trying to figure out what the Bucs will do in the Second, Third, and Fourth rounds. After starting the 2008 season at 9-3 the Buccaneers went on to lose their final four games miss the playoffs.Year after year we always hear how they are going to make a "splash" in free agency by signing a "Tiger Woods"like free agent ie:The Brett Favre & Albert Hainsworth sweepstakes only to lose out to other teams because they can't pay the signing bonus and up front money.<br /><br /> I blame the Buc's owners for this season's debacle. The Buccaneers are 30 million dollars UNDER the salary cap, and have had the LOWEST payroll for the past five seasons. The bottom line is They have no cash and their interests are elsewhere ie:(Manchester United) where they also had to sell Ronaldo who in my opinion is the best player in soccer because they are strapped for cash. The next stop is this years NFL Draft in April where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have five out of the top ninety-nine picks to fill some of their many needs. <br /><br />This years Draft is supposed to be the deepest in many years because of more juniors leaving early in order to beat the impending lock-out or "work stoppage" in 2011. The discussion of a rookie salary cap also has underclassmen scrambling to declare for the Draft. With Tampa Bay having so many prime picks they can't afford to miss as in years past i.e.taking Gaines Adams at number four, and moving up to get(bust) Dexter Jackson. <br /><br />Buccaneer's GM Mark Dominik came out this past week and said that the Buc's would be spending "little to no money in free agency", and instead be building "through the Draft".I agree that you need to build a team with the Draft, but you also need veterans and leaders and after cutting Derrick Brooks they had NO leaders! I think that the Buccaneers need to address the following positions in this years Draft: <br /><br />Safety- Tampa Bay spent most of the season trying to hide safety Sabby Piscitelli in coverage. One Possible answer is taking Tennessee's Eric Berry with the third overall pick.Berry is a play maker and he can be the leader of a defense right away. <br /><br />Defensive Tackle- Buc's desperately need a pass rusher and their current DT's are under-sized. Most likely DT Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska will be gone,so I like DT Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma . McCoy is a beast in the middle and he can play both the pass and the run. He is definitely a top 5 Draft Prospect and I think he can impact the team immediately. <br /><br />Wide receiver- With WR Antonio Bryant all but gone and Michael Clayton and his 16 catches (as a #2 WR) pondering skipping town,the Buc's need to address the Wide-out position. If they are going to take a WR early Dez Bryant WR from Oklahoma State is my choice. <br /><br />The Buccaneers actually need one more good player on the OL and three WR's on the offensive side of the ball,but their main problem is on defense. Tampa Bay averaged giving up 160yds per game rushing,and gave up nine pass plays of 40 yards or more in 2009. Although the team's 3-13 record was less than stellar,they showed signs of promise and "buying into" coach Morris and his system.
